Fairfax County transportation officials will seek public ideas for easing congestion and improving roadway safety in Oakton during a community workshop on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Oakton High School, 2900 Sutton Road in Vienna. Fairfax County Department of Transportation staff will open with a brief project presentation before attendees break into small groups for a mapping exercise.

Participants will recommend transportation improvements and identify priorities for both short- and long-term action. Each group will present its ideas at the end of the workshop.

The Oakton Congestion Mitigation and Safety Study will examine how new, modified or enhanced roadway connections, lane configurations and other changes could affect traffic. Recommendations will also consider safety and potential effects on bicycle, pedestrian and bus networks.

The study grew from a follow-on motion authorized by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors after approval of the AT&T Oakton site-specific plan amendment.

Attendees are asked to RSVP for planning purposes or call 703-877-5600, TTY 711.
