Sophie Toole is carrying on a family tradition of athletic success at Oakton High School while her brothers, Nick and Noah, continue their careers at the college level.

A junior standout in basketball and softball, Sophie has helped Oakton’s girls basketball team build a 15-1 record this winter. She leads the Cougars in several statistical categories and remains on pace to finish her high school career with more than 1,000 points.

Her all-around impact was evident in a recent victory over Madison. Sophie scored 15 points while adding six assists, five rebounds, three steals and multiple defensive deflections. Madison head coach Kirsten Stone has consistently praised her effort and versatility.

When spring arrives, Sophie will shift to shortstop for Oakton’s softball team.

Her older brothers were also three-sport standouts at Oakton, earning all-district recognition in football, basketball and baseball before moving into college athletics.

Nick Toole recently completed his junior football season at Division III Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. The 6-foot-4 athlete appeared in all 10 games and filled multiple roles, playing quarterback and tight end, holding on place kicks and returning kicks.

At quarterback, Nick completed 33 of 54 passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns during the season. In consecutive games, he went 13-for-24 for 128 yards and 17-for-26 for 149 yards, throwing one touchdown pass in each contest.

Through 26 career games at Carleton, Nick has completed 54 of 86 passes for 477 yards and three touchdowns. He has also rushed for 154 yards and five scores, caught two passes for two yards and returned five kicks for 48 yards, including a career-long return of 21 yards.

Noah Toole, meanwhile, is preparing for his freshman baseball season at Division I Radford University, where he is expected to play shortstop this spring.

With Sophie still producing in two sports at Oakton and both brothers competing in college, the Toole siblings have assembled one of the school’s most accomplished family athletic résumés.
