A pedestrian was critically injured Friday evening after being struck by an SUV in downtown McLean, prompting police to close part of Old Dominion Drive.
Police and Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department crews were dispatched around 6:10 p.m. to the intersection of Old Dominion Drive and Beverly Road. Scanner traffic indicated that multiple people reported the crash.
A dispatcher identified the vehicle as a gray Hyundai Tucson and said its driver remained at the scene.
The pedestrian, an adult man, was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Eastbound Old Dominion Drive was closed at Beverly Road while detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit investigated. Police advised drivers to use another route.
