Pet Palooza will fill Reston Town Center with adoptable animals, hands-on exhibits and family entertainment on Saturday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The outdoor event at 11919 Market St. will feature local animal rescues, nonprofit groups and pet-related businesses. Visitors can meet animals searching for permanent homes, explore new pet products and bring their own leashed pets along.
Ryan “The Bug Man” Bridge will introduce guests to live insects, including some of the world’s largest species. His program explores insect anatomy, environmental importance and defensive traits, with opportunities to hold some of the bugs upon request.
Raging Reptiles will offer an interactive educational experience in which visitors can observe, touch and learn about reptiles up close.
Poppy the Pony, a gentle Pygmy pony wearing a flower crown, will greet children and carry a basket of event programs. Reston nonprofit zoo NOVA Wild will also provide interactive opportunities to learn about animal species from around the world and its support for international conservation.
Other attractions will include The Bubble Lady, face painting, strolling entertainers, pet caricaturists and live DJ music.
Thousands of visitors are expected for the summer kickoff, which organizers say will include adoptable pets—and puppies.
