Plaka Grill has grown from a local restaurant launched in 2007 into a longtime Northern Virginia destination for Greek food, with locations in Vienna and Falls Church.

Founder, chef and owner Peter Drosos grew up in the Vienna area. His maternal grandfather settled there in the mid-1950s, and Drosos spent much of his childhood around family kitchens and the restaurant business.

After graduating from James Madison High School in 2001, Drosos attended culinary school in Athens, Greece. He earned a culinary arts degree and worked in traditional Greek restaurants, developing experience preparing gyros, souvlaki and fresh pita.

Drosos returned to Virginia in 2007 and opened Plaka Grill to bring the cooking traditions he learned in Greece to his home community.

The restaurant’s signature Plaka Gyro combines marinated meat, fresh vegetables, tzatziki and fries in warm pita. Chicken souvlaki wraps offer a grilled alternative with traditional Mediterranean accompaniments.

Beyond wraps, the menu includes dolmadakia, made with grape leaves stuffed with rice and seasoned meat, and spanakopita filled with spinach and feta between layers of phyllo. House-made dips include hummus, taramosalata and melitzanosalata.

Falafel, salads and roasted potatoes provide additional choices, including options for vegetarian diners.

Plaka Grill maintains a casual setting intended for family meals, groups sharing appetizers and individual diners. The business also supports local schools, youth sports organizations and charitable causes through catering, fundraising contributions and community events.

The restaurant has received strong customer ratings online, including 4.8 stars from more than 2,000 Uber Eats reviews. Reviews on Google and Restaurantji have placed it near 4.5 stars, with diners frequently highlighting the food’s quality, consistency and value.
