Located beside the entrance to Whole Foods Market at Tysons Boro, PLNT Burger serves entirely vegan takes on fast-food staples. Its menu is also kosher and halal, offering plant-based burgers, chicken-style bites and desserts.
The signature vegan cheeseburger proved underwhelming. Once unwrapped, melted cheese spilled into a soggy mess, while the thin plant-based patty and watery tomato dragged down the texture and flavor.
A few toppings helped rescue it. Pickles supplied a needed salty bite, caramelized onions brought some sweetness and the tangy PLNT sauce added another welcome layer. Even so, the burger fell short of expectations.
The Lil’ Dippers were the clear standout. These plant-based chicken nuggets arrived crisp and crunchy without the excessive moisture that can undermine meatless alternatives. Their flavor and texture came close to conventional chicken nuggets, especially when paired with PLNT sauce, making them reason enough for a return visit.
The limited-edition Banana Creme Brulee Shake also delivered. Its oat-based soft serve was difficult to distinguish from dairy ice cream, with a pronounced banana flavor complemented by crème brûlée sweetness. Rainbow sprinkles improved the presentation and added a satisfying crunch.
Despite the disappointing cheeseburger, the realistic plant-based options, excellent dippers and well-balanced shake made PLNT Burger a worthwhile stop for vegan and vegetarian fast-food favorites.
