Three of the conference’s leading scorers delivered a high-powered showdown on Jan. 25, but the Potomac School seized control early and defeated neighborhood rival Flint Hill, 73-53.

The Panthers opened with seven unanswered points and led 21-6 after the first quarter. Their advantage grew to 47-30 by halftime, helping Potomac secure its second straight win and improve to 12-7.

Sophomore guard Sabrina Anderson led the Panthers with 26 points, including four three-pointers. Senior forward Catherine Letendre added 23 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists.

Flint Hill senior guard and forward Raigan McCalla scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She made two three-pointers and erupted for 18 points in the second quarter. Anderson and McCalla each had 20 points by halftime.

Potomac junior guard Ava Sewall also made four three-pointers, finishing with 16 points, four steals and two assists.

McCalla and Letendre have each surpassed 1,000 career points in high school, while Anderson is approaching the milestone.

Lauren Hillard contributed four points and three rebounds for Potomac. Sabrina Eldredge scored four points, while Julia Jackson recorded one point, two steals and two assists. The Panthers played without senior standouts Zora Burrell and Marget Crittenberger, who were sidelined by leg injuries.

For Flint Hill, Lynette Doku had 11 points and eight rebounds. Tatum Carney finished with eight points, six rebounds and three steals. Ashley Giuliani and Liliana Mahdi each scored a basket, and Erin Doran made a free throw.

The loss ended Flint Hill’s four-game winning streak and left the Huskies at 12-6.

Potomac has now beaten Flint Hill six consecutive times. The Huskies’ most recent victory in the rivalry came in the opening game of the 2019-20 season. The teams are scheduled to meet only once this season.
