The Potomac School girls basketball team overcame a 10-point opening deficit to defeat Brecksville-Broadview of Ohio, 55-46, and capture its eight-team bracket at the KSA Events Holiday Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida.
Potomac fell behind 10-0 in the championship game before rallying to take a one-point lead into halftime. The Panthers pulled away during the third quarter to complete a 3-0 tournament run.
Zora Burrell led Potomac in the final with 19 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Tournament Most Valuable Player Sabrina Anderson added 13 points, five steals and two rebounds, while Catherine Letendre contributed seven points, nine rebounds and two assists.
The Panthers opened the tournament with a 54-38 victory over United South of Texas. They then beat Medfield Senior of Massachusetts, 67-55, in the semifinals.
Anderson scored 20 and 16 points in those two games and made five three-pointers during the tournament. Catherine Letendre, Zora Burrell, Sabrina Eldredge, Julia Jackson and Ava Sewall also ranked among Potomac’s leading scorers across the three victories.
Potomac returned to its local schedule with a 73-31 road win over Independent School League AA Division rival Holy Child of Potomac, Maryland. Anderson scored 21 points as the Panthers extended their winning streak to four games.
The Panthers improved to 8-6 through a travel-heavy opening stretch. They have played twice in Maryland, once in Washington, D.C., and at Virginia sites in Ashburn, Richmond and Virginia Beach. Six of their eight victories have come away from home.
