Providence Rec Center will close for two weeks as Fairfax County completes a concentrated round of maintenance, repairs and customer-service upgrades.

The facility at 7525 Marc Drive in West Falls Church will be unavailable from Monday, March 23, through Sunday, April 5. Multiple projects will be completed simultaneously to limit the length of the shutdown.

The work will include deep cleaning and painting, HVAC maintenance, lighting upgrades, window replacements and improvements to the exterior entry plaza. Crews will also replace carpeting in the main office, update the guest services desk and begin fire alarm upgrades.

Repairs, cleaning and other maintenance are planned for the natatorium as well.

During the closure, visitors can use Audrey Moore Rec Center at 8100 Braddock Road in Annandale or Oakmont Rec Center at 3200 Jermantown Road in Oakton. Members may instead pause their memberships by submitting an online request or visiting the Providence front desk before the shutdown.

Prospects for a larger renovation remain uncertain. The Fairfax County Park Authority wants to renovate Providence and two other recreation centers but expects rising construction costs to limit available funding.

Officials are leaning toward giving priority to renovations at the older Audrey Moore Rec Center and more modest improvements at Franconia Rec Center in the 2026 park bond. The proposed November referendum has not been finalized, though County Executive Bryan Hill’s capital improvement bond plan calls for a total of $180 million.
