A weekend yoga class in Washington, D.C., is pairing gentle exercise with puppy playtime, giving participants 75 minutes to stretch, unwind and mingle with young dogs.

Each Puppies & Yoga session begins with 45 minutes of guided yoga. Instructors demonstrate standard poses along with easier and more challenging variations, making the class suitable for different experience levels. Yoga mats are provided, as is a complimentary wellness drink.

The remaining 30 minutes are reserved for puppy play. Participants can move around, cuddle the dogs and take photos with them.

The puppies are vaccinated and between 8 and 12 weeks old. They come from local breeders, whose information is shared during class. The sessions also give each litter an opportunity to socialize before the puppies meet their future families.

Classes are held on weekends at studios in Dupont Circle, Logan Circle and Georgetown. The participating breeds vary by location and are announced on social media several days beforehand.

The experience combines two popular ways to relieve stress: light physical activity and time with animals. For some guests, it may also offer an introduction to a puppy they could eventually bring home.
