Rachel Carson Middle School’s counseling program has earned the 2025 Recognized ASCA Model Program designation for demonstrating benefits for all students through comprehensive counseling services.

The American School Counselor Association awards the RAMP distinction to schools whose counseling programs meet its national model criteria. Applicants must show how their work supports student achievement, advances their school’s mission and goals, uses data to guide decisions, and incorporates feedback from parents, students, teachers, and administrators.

A panel of school counseling professionals reviews applications annually. The designation remains valid for five years.

Rachel Carson is among 14 Fairfax County Public Schools counseling programs with active RAMP certification. FCPS counseling programs use a comprehensive, data-driven model intended to provide equitable access and help close achievement gaps.
