Public Art Reston is inviting poets of all ages and experience levels to turn the community’s sculptures, murals and other public artworks into original poetry for National Poetry Month.
Residents of Reston and surrounding communities may submit poems from March 20 through April 20. Entries should draw inspiration from public art found throughout Reston, including prominent installations and lesser-known works.
Participants will compete for prizes that include a gourmet dinner at The Simon restaurant and an overnight stay at the new JW Marriott.
Selected poems will be presented during eARTh Day on April 25 at Reston Town Center. They may also appear on Public Art Reston’s website and social media channels.
Public Art Reston, founded in 2007, is a nonprofit organization that documents local artworks, commissions new pieces and works with community partners to expand access to art in public spaces.
