A partial roof collapse complicated efforts to extinguish a house fire Wednesday morning in the 3100 block of Holmes Run Road in West Falls Church.

Firefighters arrived to find flames engulfing the roof of the two-story, single-family home. One person was evaluated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones is urging Congress to require refunds for billions of dollars in tariffs imposed under President Donald Trump. Jones argues that businesses and consumers should be repaid quickly after the nation’s highest court struck down the policy.

A college labor bill heading to Gov. Abigail Spanberger would permit service employees such as janitors and security guards to bargain collectively. College professors and graduate students are excluded from the legislation.

Among the more than 3,000 bills filed during the General Assembly session were proposals involving a pornography tax and a study of fungi. Measures sent to Spanberger also include a ban on livestreaming while driving and a requirement that movie theaters show a certain number of subtitled or open-captioned films.

Northern Virginia could soon get its first sports bar centered on women’s teams. Sarah White, a longtime local restaurateur and partner at Westover Taco, is working to buy out the taqueria at 5849 Washington Blvd. in Arlington and convert the business.

Fort Belvoir community members should avoid the intersection of Stonewall Jackson and Gorgas Road from March 23 through March 24. Crews will use heavy equipment to repave the lane divider, prompting road closures and making the active construction area off-limits.

Fairfax County transportation officials will hold a virtual public meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 19, about a proposed asphalt walkway along Idylwood Road between Idylwood Court and Hillside Drive. An online survey will accept additional comments through April 2.

George Mason University is also marking 20 years since its men’s basketball team made its improbable 2006 NCAA tournament run. Entering as an at-large No. 11 seed, the Patriots became the longest shot at the time to reach the Final Four.
