Fairfax County police rescued an uninjured young child who was partially hanging from an apartment window in Seven Corners on July 10, the department said.
Officers were called to the 3000 block of South Manchester Street at 3:17 p.m. after a witness reported seeing the child at the window of an apartment building.
Police used a drone and assistance from Fairfax County’s high-tech command center to determine which apartment the child was in. Officers then entered the unit and pulled the child from the window.
The child was not injured, according to police.
Officers found three other people under 18 inside the apartment but no adults. Authorities did not disclose the ages of the four minors or explain their relationships to one another.
The discovery prompted a response from detectives who investigate cases involving children.
“Detectives from our Child Abuse Unit responded to the scene and are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the Fairfax County Police Department said.
As of July 11, police had not announced any arrests or charges. The department declined to provide details beyond its statement, citing the ongoing investigation.
Police had not publicly explained why no adults were present or how the child came to be partially outside the window. The supplied reporting also does not establish whether arrests or charges followed after July 11.
