Little City Concerts announces new season
Little City Concerts has unveiled four performances for its 2025-2026 season, beginning Sept. 20.
Composer and Falls Church resident Stephen Gorbos founded the organization in summer 2023. Its concerts pair contemporary and experimental music—and fresh interpretations of older works—with social justice themes. A portion of ticket sales from each performance supports a charity connected to that concert’s theme.
Nen Daiko will open the season Sept. 20 with taiko, a Japanese tradition combining drumming and movement.
On Nov. 22, Falls Church pianist Mary Voutsas and several other performers will present a transgender remembrance tribute in memory of Sam Nordquist. The somber program will include a visual artist painting during the concert.
Bridge Voices will perform David Lang’s Pulitzer Prize-winning The Little Match Girl Passion on Feb. 21, 2026. The work blends Hans Christian Andersen’s story with text from Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and features four singers playing percussion.
The season will conclude April 18, 2026, with the 9th Street Quartet performing a program centered on the idea of home. It will feature Kevin Puts’ string quartet Home and a new quartet by Gorbos.
All four concerts will take place in the modern sanctuary at The Falls Church Episcopal. Season tickets cost $80, compared with $100 for four individual tickets. Young people and anyone with a student ID may attend free, though advance registration is requested.
Details about the season’s nonprofit partners and performers are expected later.
Three Collective celebrates opening with two events
Three Collective marked the opening of its 675-unit live-and-work community at 5203 Leesburg Pike in Baileys Crossroads with a Wonderland-themed preview and a free neighborhood festival.
Also known as 3co, the development converted office space in three large towers into “flexidential” loft residences.
More than 200 people attended the May 29 grand-opening event, including local government, business and style leaders. Giant flowers, mushrooms and playing cards filled the Wonderland-inspired setting, while a Queen of Hearts performer wore a ball gown made from champagne flutes.
The evening featured aura photography, tea-leaf readings, roaming portrait artists and acrobatic performers. Themed refreshments included potion bottles marked “drink me” and desserts labeled “eat me.” Resident DJ Easy supplied music in the Social Kitchen.
Guests also explored coworking lounges, art studios, podcast booths, bowling lanes and other shared spaces.
Three Collective welcomed the wider community June 14 for 3coFest, a free afternoon festival hosted by Woofbowl, Noelia Voigt and Frank Grimsley.
More than 20 local makers and artisans participated, including Dunnie O, Sophie Blake, Black Nerd Coffee, AJM Kimchi, CADŌ and Crescent Clay. Chef Christopher Eley provided grilling demonstrations and tastings, while Happy Paws Photography offered professional pet portraits.
Dog-friendly attractions included healthy treats and a snuffle-mat station. Operation Paws for Homes brought adoptable dogs and organized a donation drive supporting its rescue work.
Other amenities at Three Collective include recording and photography studios, a virtual-reality arcade, maker spaces, an indoor dog park, a demonstration kitchen and a sky cinema.
