Fairfax County’s newest public high school officially has a name as it prepares to welcome as many as 1,000 students for the 2026-27 school year.

The Fairfax County School Board voted unanimously on Feb. 12, 2026, to name the western Fairfax campus Skyview High School. The decision followed community meetings, surveys and public hearings conducted under the board’s school-naming policy.

Students accounted for most survey responses and ranked Skyview first among the superintendent’s initial recommendations. Community feedback helped refine those recommendations before the board’s final vote.

Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid said the name reflects the potential and opportunities the school system envisions for students pursuing innovative learning and preparing for careers that do not yet exist.

Along with the standard curriculum offered at traditional Fairfax County public high schools, Skyview will feature three specialized pathways: Aerospace Science, Technology, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Enrollment is underway under Principal Dave Jagels. The school’s first class will include up to 500 ninth graders and 500 10th graders.

A limited number of seats are available to rising ninth- and 10th-grade students in the Centreville, Chantilly, Oakton, South Lakes and Westfield pyramids. Families seeking enrollment details may contact the school.

School Board member Seema Dixit, who represents the Sully District, said the extensive participation in the naming process demonstrated how strongly residents and families care about the school’s future.

Fairfax County Public Schools acquired the nearly 32.7-acre site in August 2025. The campus includes 355,000 square feet of educational space, with multipurpose halls, libraries, study rooms, fine-arts facilities and athletic areas.
