Fairfax County’s newest public high school officially has a name. The School Board voted unanimously on Feb. 12, 2026, to call the western Fairfax County campus Skyview High School.

The decision clears a major milestone before the school welcomes its first students for the 2026-27 academic year.

The name emerged from a public process conducted under School Board Policy and Regulation 8170. Community meetings, surveys and public hearings helped shape the superintendent’s recommendations and the board’s final decision. Students represented most survey participants and ranked Skyview as their top choice among the initial recommendations.

Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid said the name reflects the potential and opportunities the school system wants students to have as they pursue innovation and prepare for careers that do not yet exist.

Along with the standard curriculum offered at traditional Fairfax County Public Schools high schools, Skyview will feature three specialized pathways: Aerospace Science, Technology, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Enrollment is underway under Principal Dave Jagels. Skyview plans to admit as many as 1,000 students during its first year, divided between 500 ninth graders and 500 10th graders.

Limited openings remain for rising ninth- and 10th-grade students in the Centreville, Chantilly, Oakton, South Lakes and Westfield pyramids. Families seeking a place can contact the school for enrollment information.

Sully District School Board representative Seema Dixit said the community’s participation in the naming process demonstrated how strongly local families and residents care about the school’s future. She described Skyview as a name that captures the community’s vision for the new campus.

FCPS acquired the nearly 32.7-acre property in August 2025. The site includes 355,000 square feet of educational space, with multipurpose halls, libraries, study rooms, fine arts facilities and athletic areas.
