Work-zone speed cameras are now operating along Fairfax County Parkway between Popes Head Road and Burke Center Parkway. Drivers caught speeding may face fines of up to $100.
The speed limit has been reduced to 45 mph while multiple road-widening projects remain under construction.
In Tysons, an internal road near Seasons 52 at Tysons Corner Center was blocked.
Comstock Companies CEO Chris Clemente rejected allegations in the Town of Herndon’s lawsuit concerning its stalled downtown redevelopment project, calling them inaccurate and meritless. Comstock said it could not meet deadlines the town imposed last year but remains willing to complete the project or transfer the property to another developer.
Questions also remain about 2,512 immigration-related arrests in Virginia. Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s office has characterized those arrested as violent criminals unlawfully in the country, but the state and federal agencies involved have not released documentation identifying them, their charges or whether they were deported.
Virginia school divisions removed 223 books from their libraries a combined 344 times between July 2020 and March 2025, according to a report from the General Assembly’s research arm. The report found that 32 districts removed books with little state guidance and sometimes cited state law incorrectly.
City of Fairfax police arrested two Fairfax men accused of assaulting law-enforcement officers in separate weekend incidents. Officers responded around 4:50 p.m. Saturday to a report of a man harassing customers at the Wawa at 9700 Fairfax Blvd. The second encounter occurred during a Sunday traffic stop near Fairfax Boulevard and Chain Bridge Road.
Pizzato Pizza, an Arlington-based Italian restaurant, plans to open its second location next month in Lincolnia. The restaurant will occupy a Landmark Plaza storefront between Total Wine and Subway on Little River Turnpike, offering pizza, pasta, wings, Philly steaks and salads.
ArtsFairfax has selected Michael Liberman as chair of its board of directors as part of a slate of new members and officers. Liberman spent more than 33 years working for Fairfax County before retiring in 2022 as director of the Department of Cable and Consumer Services and chair of the County Arts Committee.
