Springfield Man, 76, Dies After Being Hit in Marked Crosswalk

A 76-year-old Springfield man died after a driver struck him in a marked crosswalk near Hunter Village Drive and Rockledge Court on Aug. 15.

A 76-year-old Springfield man died after a driver struck him in a marked crosswalk near Hunter Village Drive and Rockledge Court on Aug. 15.

Officers responded to the crash at about 7:30 a.m. Investigators determined that a 2007 Toyota Camry was traveling north on Hunter Village Drive when it hit Jay Kim as he crossed the road.

Kim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead. The Camry’s driver was not injured and remained at the scene.

Speed and alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the crash, according to investigators. The circumstances remain under investigation.
