Storm Forces FCPS to Extend Second Quarter Into February

Fairfax County Public Schools has extended the second quarter through Tuesday, Feb. 3, after the recent storm disrupted the final days of the grading period.

Fairfax County Public Schools has extended the second quarter through Tuesday, Feb. 3, after the recent storm disrupted the final days of the grading period.

Teachers may continue administering second-quarter assessments through Feb. 3. Any specific changes will be communicated to students and families through Schoology.

Students enrolled in semester courses will also continue attending their first-semester classes through Feb. 3.

The divisionwide staff development day scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29, and the teacher workday on Friday, Jan. 30, will proceed as planned. Students will not have classes on either day.

FCPS said the staff development day will provide in-person professional learning, while the teacher workday will give educators dedicated time for second-quarter grading and planning.

Facilities and custodial crews have been clearing parking lots and sidewalks and checking school buildings as the division prepares to reopen when conditions are safe.
