Springfield District Supervisor Pat Herrity is expected to leave the campaign trail for several weeks after undergoing surgery Thursday, March 13, for a hereditary heart condition. The condition was discovered after Herrity experienced medical problems earlier that week.
Herrity, who is seeking to become Virginia’s next lieutenant governor, said he expects to make a full recovery.
President Donald Trump also said Friday that he would again stop plans to build a new FBI headquarters in Maryland, arguing during a Department of Justice speech that the location was too far from the agency’s current headquarters. Maryland leaders vowed to continue advocating for the move to Greenbelt, which was selected over proposed sites in Springfield and Landover.
