Taste of Del Ray drew a sellout crowd to the Mount Vernon Recreation Center fields on June 1, bringing together more than a dozen neighborhood restaurants for the culinary event’s 16th year.
Ticket sales were capped at 500 because of the signature Del Ray gathering’s popularity. Attendees sampled dishes while restaurants competed for votes from the public and a panel of judges.
Del Ray resident Adam Long said he had tried nearly everything available and praised the event for combining the neighborhood’s food, people and atmosphere.
Former “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd served as a competition judge. A VIP wine tasting was also held nearby at Del Ray Artisans.
Spice Kraft Indian Bistro took first place in both the People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice rankings.
Del Ray Café finished second in the public vote, followed by La’Baik in third. Judges awarded second place to La’Baik, while Taqueria Poblano and Evening Star Cafe’s Hi-Fi Tex-Mex BBQ tied for third.
