From fruit smoothies to loaded bagels, three McLean-area eateries offer students refreshing options for hot summer days.
Sophomore Rewa Sethi favors Sweet Leaf in downtown McLean, particularly its sweet mango smoothie. She said the drink is refreshing without having an overpowering banana flavor.
Sweet Leaf serves sandwiches, smoothies, bowls and frozen yogurt in a bright cafe setting. Its frozen yogurt combines tangy and sweet flavors for another quick warm-weather snack.
Senior Jad Osta’s preferred destination is South Block in Chesterbrook, where his favorite order is the chocolate-covered strawberry bowl. The bowl combines açaí, fresh strawberries and chocolate drizzle.
South Block also offers juices and other smoothie bowls, providing choices for students seeking a cold afternoon treat or something filling after a workout.
At the Chesterbrook Shopping Center, senior Annika Ryerson recommends Call Your Mother Deli. Her regular summer order pairs the Royal Palm with an iced vanilla latte.
The Royal Palm is a bagel sandwich made with cream cheese, smoked salmon, tomato, cucumber, red onion and capers. Along with its cold drinks and loaded bagels, the deli features colorful decor and playful branding.
