Poe Middle School and Herndon High School have earned a 2026 national designation recognizing the impact of their counseling programs on students.
The American School Counselor Association named both Fairfax County public schools as Recognized ASCA Model Programs, or RAMP. The designation honors schools whose comprehensive, data-driven counseling programs meet criteria established by the association’s national model.
To qualify, school counselors submit evidence showing how their work supports student achievement, advances school goals, uses data to guide decisions and incorporates feedback from students, parents and administrators. Applications are reviewed annually by a panel of school counseling professionals.
The designation remains valid for five years. With the latest awards, 10 Fairfax County Public Schools counseling programs now hold active RAMP certification.
Counseling programs throughout the school system use a comprehensive, data-driven model intended to expand equity and access for students while helping close achievement gaps.
