The Casual Pint has established two locally owned Northern Virginia outposts, pairing extensive craft beer selections with full food menus and neighborhood-focused events.
The nationally franchised “beerstro” concept combines a craft beer market with a casual restaurant. Its Falls Church location was opened by local resident Darren McClure, while McLean friends Jennifer Longmeyer-Wood and Derek Adams opened the Dunn Loring/Fairfax location.
Both businesses feature frequently changing draft lists with beers from local and regional breweries. Staff members, known as BeerTenders, help customers navigate the selections, whether they want a pint on-site or packaged beer to take home.
The Falls Church location offers roughly 34 beers on tap and seats about 60 people across its indoor and covered outdoor areas. Its dog-friendly patio, communal tables and prominent tap wall give the space the feel of an approachable neighborhood pub.
The Dunn Loring location operates a 22-tap draft system near the Dunn Loring Metro station. Customers can receive three hours of validated parking in the adjacent lot, while the Metro lot offers free parking on weekends.
Draft options across the two locations include IPAs, pilsners, dark beers and seasonal releases. The taps connect directly to the cooler, allowing for shorter lines that are easier to clean. Sixteen-ounce servings are poured into nonic pint glasses intended to preserve the beer’s head and showcase its aromas.
Customers can also choose from more than 250 craft beers in the coolers, build a custom six-pack or purchase packaged six-packs from the shelves. Single cans and bottles are available for drinking on-site or taking home, and customers can order 32- or 64-ounce growler and crowler fills. Kegs are available by special request.
For those looking beyond beer, the Dunn Loring location carries wine, cider, nonalcoholic beer and soft drinks.
Food choices include wings, pretzels with beer cheese, sriracha chili bourbon meatballs, Southwest egg rolls, brats, sandwiches, sidewinders, flatbreads, wraps and salads. Dunn Loring also serves 12-inch handmade German pretzels from woman-owned Prop and Peller with house-made beer cheese.
Regular events include free live trivia with prizes for the top three teams, concerts, brewery tap takeovers, beer-pairing dinners, community gatherings and fundraisers. Falls Church recently featured Baltimore-area breweries during a Charm City tap takeover.
Other offerings include online food ordering, gift cards and a loyalty program that awards one point for every dollar spent, with a $7 discount unlocked after 150 points.
