Tysons Community Alliance is expanding Bike Month this May with new programs, prizes and infrastructure designed to help residents, workers and visitors travel around Tysons by bicycle.

The month’s activities center on the Tysons Trek & Treat Spring Challenge and Bike to Work Day, offering participants opportunities to explore the district, visit local destinations and compete for prizes.

From May 1 through May 29, cyclists can register for the self-guided Trek & Treat challenge through ConnectingVA. Prizes include Velotric Fold One Plus e-bikes and Experience Tysons e-gift cards.

Bike to Work Day returns Friday, May 15, with five pit stops across Tysons. Locations include Valo Park, The Boro Tysons, Mitre, Tysons Corner Center and Capital One Center.

The event, organized by Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, will feature refreshments, giveaways and community activities during morning and afternoon commutes.

The Bike Month programming follows several wayfinding and placemaking projects intended to make travel through Tysons safer and more accessible. Eleven new trail wayfinding signs have been installed across the district, while eight solar-powered Metro wayfinding kiosks are scheduled to arrive in June 2026.

New branded signage has also been added to the Tysons water tower, a prominent landmark located on one of the highest elevations in the Washington area.

Jason Zogg, TCA’s vice president of place and transportation, said the programs and infrastructure investments are part of an effort to make Tysons easier and more enjoyable to navigate without a car.
