Flore Café has transformed its Tysons terrace into a French countryside retreat for “Summer in Provence,” a seasonal high tea featuring 14 courses and premium Parisian teas.
The café, located inside Sisters Thai at 7735 Capital One Tower Road in Capital One Center, launched the experience Saturday, June 6. Floral decorations in indigo, purple, yellow and silver-sage evoke the lavender fields of Gordes and Valensole in southern France.
Founder Tammy Ditsayawathana said the food, décor and aromatic teas were selected to capture the leisurely atmosphere of a French country summer in Northern Virginia.
The tea selection comes from Paris-based Mariage Frères and includes Opéra Blue, Vert Provence and Earl Grey Provence. Guests can add a $15 Provence 75 cocktail made with botanical French gin, lavender syrup, lemon and sparkling wine, topped with a sprig of lavender.
The savory courses are lavender-infused vichyssoise, Olivier lobster salad, ratatouille and goat cheese tartlets, fig and goat cheese salad, Herbes de Provence onion puff tubes and salade niçoise sandwiches.
Apricot-walnut and lemon-blueberry scones are served with seasonal jam. Desserts include Opéra Blue tea crème brûlée, lavender-hued madeleines, extra virgin olive oil and orange mousse cake, hazelnut chocolate mousse in flower cups, raspberry-lemon tartlets and vanilla bean éclairs.
Reservations are required. The experience costs $89 per person and is offered on weekends from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Flore Café opened last spring with plans to provide regular high tea service combining European elegance with Thai-inspired flavors.
