Fairfax County is considering up to 17 new Capital Bikeshare stations along the I-66 Parallel Trail corridor, potentially expanding access between Fairfax/Fair Lakes and Dunn Loring.
The Fairfax County Department of Transportation will hold a virtual public meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, to gather feedback on proposed locations in the Providence, Braddock and Springfield districts.
Transportation staff will explain how Capital Bikeshare works, outline the project’s funding and present maps showing possible station sites. The public will be asked to weigh in on where the stations should be installed.
The expansion would be funded through an I-66 Commuter Choice grant from the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission.

Capital Bikeshare operates more than 800 stations across Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia, including 96 in Fairfax County. The network supports commutes and everyday trips while connecting riders with Metrorail, buses and other transportation options.
Public input will help determine which proposed stations are ultimately selected. After the meeting, the county plans to post detailed instructions for submitting comments by online survey, email, telephone or U.S. mail.
