The Virginian Restaurant has served generations of diners since opening in downtown Vienna in 1965, maintaining its identity as a neighborhood gathering place as Northern Virginia has grown around it.
Located at 169 Glyndon St. SE, the family-friendly diner is known primarily for all-day breakfast. Its menu includes pancakes, bacon and eggs, omelets and traditional breakfast platters, along with burgers, sandwiches, chicken souvlaki and other lunch and early dinner choices. Vegetarian options are also available.
The restaurant has traditionally operated as a family-owned business. New ownership arrived around 2022 or 2023, bringing operational changes while retaining the familiar menu and casual atmosphere.
Rather than follow changing dining trends, The Virginian continues to emphasize comfort food, generous portions and consistent service. Customers can dine in or order takeout.
Its longevity has also made the restaurant a community fixture. Residents gather there for coffee and meals, families return across generations, and regular customers are often greeted by name. The restaurant has also supported local events and organizations over the years.
