Vienna’s farmers market season begins Saturday as the town’s volunteer-run market returns alongside a spring sale featuring native plants, gardening advice and giveaways.
The Vienna Farmers Market will open for its 2026 season in the Vienna Community Center parking lot at 120 Cherry Street SE. Hours are 8 a.m. to noon, with an official ribbon-cutting scheduled for 10 a.m.
The Town of Vienna’s Spring Native Plant Sale will run concurrently from 8 a.m. to noon near Waters Field, next to the community center parking lot.
Hill House Garden Nursery will offer regionally native seasonal plants, including flowering perennials, shrubs and small trees. Visitors can also get gardening tips and drop off used quart- and gallon-size plastic nursery pots for reuse. A free drawing will award a rain barrel and backyard composter.
The plant sale is sponsored by Vienna’s Conservation and Sustainability Commission.
Organized by the nonprofit Optimist Club of Greater Vienna, the farmers market will feature fruit and vegetable vendors, prepared-food stalls and local musicians every Saturday through October.
The market says it is Fairfax County’s only farmers market operated by a nonprofit rather than a local government or for-profit organization. Vendor fees and other proceeds support the Optimist Club’s charitable work, including scholarships and assistance for local schools and youth programs. Volunteers operate the market, which is funded by club members’ dues.
More Fairfax County markets opening
The Fairfax County Park Authority began its farmers market season April 18 in Burke and will add several locations in early May. Most operate from 8 a.m. to noon, except the Kingstowne and Wakefield markets.
The McLean Farmers Market returns May 1 to Lewinsville Park, 1659 Chain Bridge Road. It will operate Fridays through Oct. 30, pausing May 15 for McLean Day.
Kingstowne Towne Center’s market also begins May 1 and will run Fridays from 3 to 7 p.m. through Oct. 23.
Other opening dates and locations include:
- May 3: Lorton Station Town Center, 8994 Potomac Bend, Sundays through Nov. 22.
- May 6: Oakmont Rec Center, 3200 Jermantown Road in Oakton, Wednesdays through Oct. 28.
- May 6: Audrey Moore Rec Center, 8100 Braddock Road in Annandale, Wednesdays from 2 to 6 p.m. through Oct. 28.
- May 7: Outside the Herndon Courthouse, 765 Lynn Street, Thursdays through Oct. 29.
The McCutcheon/Mount Vernon market opened April 22, followed by the Reston market April 25.
Reston also has a new EatLoco Farmers Market in the Halley Rise parking lot. Launched March 29, it offers crafts and personal-care products in addition to food vendors and operates Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
