For 35 years, Peking Express has served Chinese-American favorites from its home at 103 Center Street North in Vienna, growing from a modest carryout business into a restaurant offering dine-in, takeout and delivery.

The family-owned establishment serves customers across Vienna, Tysons Corner and Oakton. Over the decades, its owners have developed relationships with generations of local families, greeting regulars by name and welcoming longtime customers back.

That loyalty extends beyond Northern Virginia. One couple reportedly drove four hours from North Carolina to revisit the restaurant and enjoy its distinctive Mongolian Beef.

Peking Express emphasizes fresh beef, pork and chicken while allowing customers to tailor dishes to dietary needs. Chefs can prepare meals without oil or salt or serve them steamed. The kitchen uses soybean vegetable oil, and brown rice is available as an alternative to white rice.

Among the restaurant’s best-known dishes is General Tso’s Chicken, which can be ordered with all white meat and is prepared with chopped green peppers. Orange Chicken combines chunks of chicken with slivered orange peel and spicy Chinese peppercorns.

The Mongolian Beef pairs tender beef and onions with a smoky house sauce. Other customer favorites include Szechuan Shredded Chicken and Spicy Noodle Peanut Pasta.

The extensive menu also offers Sesame Chicken, Kung Pao dishes, lo mein, shrimp, Moo Shu selections and several varieties of fried rice. Lunch combinations come with a vegetable egg roll and a choice of egg drop, wonton, or hot and sour soup.

Peking Express is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. Delivery is available within a three-mile radius, with a $15 minimum order at lunch and a $20 minimum at dinner. Customers may also order ahead for pickup, place orders online, or use third-party delivery services.

After more than three decades, the restaurant remains a familiar destination for weeknight meals, family gatherings and celebrations throughout the Vienna area.
