Vienna will welcome spring with three community events at the Vienna Community Center grounds on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
The Spring Native Plant Sale and the opening day of the Vienna Farmers Market will run from 8 a.m. to noon. At 10 a.m., Town Manager Mercury Payton will host a live taping of “On Deck with Mercury.”
The native plant sale will take place beside the community center parking lot near Waters Field. Hill House Garden Nursery will offer regionally native flowering perennials, shrubs and small trees.
Visitors can also get gardening advice, enter a free drawing for a rain barrel and backyard composter, and drop off used quart- and gallon-size plastic nursery pots for reuse. The Town of Vienna’s Conservation and Sustainability Commission is sponsoring the sale.
Nearby, the Vienna Farmers Market will begin its May-through-October season with regional produce, honey, homemade goods and live music. The market will operate every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9.
During “On Deck with Mercury,” Payton and his guests will discuss how Vienna plans to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary and preview the town’s seasonal traditions. Community members may watch the live taping and ask Payton questions afterward.
