Tysons Corner Center has added another major entertainment attraction with the opening of Virginia’s first location of The Escape Game.

The 4,470-square-foot venue opened Saturday, Feb. 7, on the mall’s first floor between Barnes & Noble and the recently relocated American Girl. It is the company’s 57th location in the United States.

The Escape Game Tysons features six immersive, puzzle-driven adventures: Prison Break, Playground, the submarine-themed The Depths, Timeliner: Train Through Time, Ruins: Forbidden Treasure and Cosmic Crisis.

Players receive 60 minutes to complete a room filled with elaborate sets and puzzles. The venue can accommodate as many as 52 players at once.

The attraction is open daily from 8 a.m. to midnight at 1961 Chain Bridge Road, Unit N9L. Reservations cost $40.99 and can be made online.

Games are generally reserved for individual groups, although additional players may be placed together when space is limited during busy periods. The company says customers who are dissatisfied with a shared experience can contact staff to have the issue addressed.

“This opening marks an exciting milestone for us as we bring The Escape Game to Virginia for the very first time,” co-founder and chief marketing officer Jonathan Murrell said. “Tysons is a natural fit for our brand. It’s a vibrant and dynamic city, and we can’t wait to welcome players into our immersive games and create lasting memories together.”

The company began with a two-room location in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2014 and has since served more than 10 million customers. Its games are created at a 60,000-square-foot facility called the Adventure Factory, which temporarily switched to producing face shields during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The opening follows the August arrival of Level 99, another Tysons Corner Center attraction built around games, puzzles and challenges. The mall has also used temporary entertainment experiences to complement its permanent stores since the pandemic. Hershey Super Sweet Adventure is scheduled to open March 6.

More stores and restaurants arrive

Several retailers and food businesses have recently joined the mall, including Bora Bora Smoothie Cafe, Johnnie-O, British mattress manufacturer Vispring and apparel and footwear brand TravisMathew.

TravisMathew opened last week on the second floor near Macy’s, marking the brand’s first Northern Virginia store.

“Our products are made for life on the move designed to take you from work to weekend, the course to the coast, and everywhere in between with effortless style and comfort,” retail vice president Shea Louie said.

Pakistani fashion brand Ethnc entered the U.S. market in late January with a store next to Khaadi. The location is part of an expansion that is expected to bring Ethnc stores to Houston, New Jersey and Chicago by 2027.

Nuts Factory has also opened its first D.C.-area shop. The third-generation family business, whose U.S. operations are concentrated largely in New York, sells nuts, dried fruit, candy, chocolate and other snacks from a first-floor space near Macy’s. Dubai chocolate is among its featured products.

Additional openings remain in development. Vietnamese restaurant Clay Bowl is set to join the third-floor food court, while Mavi Jeans and new locations for Zara, Under Armour and Shotted are also planned. Maggiano’s is expected to open this spring.

Coming-soon signs have appeared for Casper, Blue Bottle Coffee and sofa showroom 7th Avenue, but opening dates have not been announced.
