Fairfax County Public Schools students at every middle school can access virtual mental health services beginning July 1, 2026, expanding a program previously available to high school students.

FCPS has partnered with Hazel Health to provide the services since 2023. Parents may contact Hazel directly if they are concerned about changes in their child’s mood or behavior, need mental health support for their child, or are struggling to find a community therapist.

Students receive therapy from locally licensed clinicians through secure video sessions at home. Sessions can be accessed with a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Therapists can assist with anxiety, fears, grief, motivation, behavioral or mood changes, academic stress, bullying, social skills, sexual identity concerns, and relationships with peers or family members.

Half of Hazel Health’s providers identify as Black, Indigenous or people of color. Forty percent are bilingual, and the provider network speaks more than 15 languages.

Parents can enroll their children through Hazel Health’s FCPS website. Families needing help connecting to care may also contact their school counselor, psychologist, social worker, or director of student services. Additional details are available on the FCPS Teletherapy webpage under “How to Access Services.”
