A resident suffered life-threatening injuries and nine people were displaced after a house fire erupted in West Falls Church early Friday morning.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to the 2900 block of Lawrence Drive at about 1:42 a.m. Firefighters arrived at the small, single-family home to find heavy flames visible and learned that someone remained inside.
Crews found the resident on the first floor. The person was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, but no further information about their condition was available because of medical confidentiality restrictions.
The fire spread into the attic, forcing firefighters to open the roof as they battled flames and smoke for nearly an hour. A commander reported at 2:36 a.m. that the fire was out and the scene was stable.
Fire investigators responded to determine the cause.
