Wolf Trap is filling its summer calendar with major names from rock, pop, folk, Broadway and opera, including Weird Al Yankovic, Cynthia Erivo, Paul Simon and Heart.

The Avett Brothers will open the Filene Center season with performances May 30 and 31. The initial schedule also brings back annual favorites such as Signature Theatre’s “Broadway in the Park” while welcoming Wolf Trap debuts by singer-songwriters Jacob Collier and Maren Morris.

Erivo, an Oscar nominee for playing Elphaba in the film adaptation of “Wicked,” will perform with the National Symphony Orchestra in September. Yankovic’s two July shows carry a four-ticket purchase limit.

Other scheduled performers include Ringo Starr, James Taylor, The Roots, Chicago, Buddy Guy, Alison Krauss & Union Station and Ziggy Marley with Burning Spear. Previously announced concerts include James Blunt and a reunion of The Swell Season, whose members starred in the movie “Once.”

Wolf Trap Foundation President and CEO Arvind Manocha said the season is designed to unite live music, nature and community at the outdoor venue.

Tickets for all announced summer performances go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28. Presales begin Tuesday for Wolf Trap Foundation members who donate at least $100.

Visitors will also encounter a new entrance gate now under construction. A foundation spokesperson said the redesigned entrance is intended to speed up security screening and access to the lawn.

The arrival hub is part of a park master plan adopted in 2021. Other completed improvements include permanent pavilions, a renovated concession stand and accessibility upgrades.

Changes may also be coming to Ovations at Wolf Trap, which is expected to begin accepting reservations in early March. Wolf Trap will operate the restaurant this year following the death last June of Josh Plante, owner of the previous vendor, The Fermented Pig. His death led the park to suspend service temporarily before partnering with Springfield caterer What the Chef for a pop-up operation.

Additional performers and Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods shows are expected to be announced in the spring.
