Fairfax County police are investigating after a woman was found dead near a Hybla Valley bus stop Monday evening.
Officers discovered the woman with wounds to her upper body near Richmond Highway and Arlington Drive at approximately 7:20 p.m. Police asked anyone with information to call 911.
Virginia Senate Democrats have proposed eliminating a sales tax exemption for data centers to help fund the state budget over the next two fiscal years. A House of Delegates plan calls for more modest spending on key items. Both proposals would address federal funding gaps affecting food assistance, Affordable Care Act subsidies and other priorities.
Repairs to the collapsed Potomac Interceptor are progressing with assistance from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. D.C. Water crews are working toward restoring full flow by mid-March.

A Virginia Senate committee reshuffle following Sen. Adam Ebbin’s departure for the Spanberger administration removed Sen. Dave Marsden, a Fairfax Democrat, from the Finance and Appropriations Committee. Sen. Bryce Reeves, an Orange Republican, was also dropped from the Commerce and Labor Committee.
George Mason University’s College of Education and Human Development has launched its Future Ready Teachers initiative. The program will offer aspiring educators full scholarships covering tuition and living expenses, along with mentorship, preparation for technology-enabled classrooms and a three-year induction program.
