Tysons will become a regional gathering place for soccer fans this summer as COPA Tysons returns with free public watch parties for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Beginning in June, the series will screen U.S. Men’s National Team matches at Starr Hill Biergarten at Capital One Center. Additional events will be announced as the tournament progresses, including a watch party for the championship final on Sunday, July 19.
Broadcaster Dave Johnson and U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer Bruce Murray, a former all-time leading scorer for the national team, will host select pregame festivities and fan activities. Events will be open to the public, with registration requested.
The watch parties will feature large indoor and outdoor viewing areas, live DJs and entertainment around select matches, interactive games, giveaways, family-friendly fan zones, and food and drink specials from Tysons businesses.
The series will also include celebrations connected to America’s 250th anniversary through partnerships with Visit Fairfax and Fairfax 250.
“Few places in the Washington region reflect the international spirit of the FIFA World Cup quite like Tysons, a cosmopolitan city and one of the most culturally diverse communities in the area,” Tysons Community Alliance Interim CEO Drew Sunderland said.
Watch party schedule
All currently announced events will take place at Starr Hill Biergarten at Capital One Center:
- Saturday, May 30: COPA Tysons launch party and UEFA Champions League Final, with festivities at 11 a.m. and kickoff at noon
- Friday, June 12: United States vs. Paraguay at 9 p.m.
- Friday, June 19: United States vs. Australia at 3 p.m.
- Thursday, June 25: United States vs. Turkey at 10 p.m.
Dates and times for knockout-round matches and the July 19 final will be announced during the tournament.
The May 30 launch event will begin at 11 a.m. at the biergarten, located at 1805 Capital One Drive. At noon, fans can watch defending champion Paris Saint-Germain face Arsenal in the Champions League Final from Budapest, Hungary.
Paris Saint-Germain will attempt to become only the second club to retain the Champions League title. Arsenal, newly crowned English Premier League champion for the first time in 22 years, will make its first appearance in the final.
