Zara reopened its expanded Tysons Corner Center store Thursday, unveiling more shopping space, additional fitting rooms and new technology intended to speed up purchases, returns and online-order pickups.

The retailer enlarged its two-level location at 1961 Chain Bridge Road by moving into the former Gap storefront. The renovation created more room for merchandise and increased the number of dressing rooms from about 30 to 40, with new occupancy lights and signs.

The revamped flagship also features automated self-checkout stations that use radio-frequency identification technology. When customers place tagged clothing in a designated countertop bin, the system automatically recognizes the items.

A Zara representative said the equipment is intended to reduce the long checkout lines that previously formed at the store and help shoppers complete purchases more quickly.

Customers collecting online purchases can now use a QR code-activated pickup machine. Zara said the expanded store represents its next generation of retail, with digital features connecting its online and in-person shopping experiences.

Women’s clothing remains on the main level. Men’s, children’s and baby clothing is available downstairs.

Gap continues to operate at Tysons Corner Center after downsizing and relocating last August to the mall’s first floor near Nordstrom.

Other businesses scheduled to arrive at the mall in the coming months include Neuhaus Chocolates, Blue Bottle Coffee and the Tiny’s Corner play area and cafe. Dick’s House of Sport is expected to open in fall 2027.
