Home showings across the Mid-Atlantic declined even as more properties reached the market during the week ending May 31, 2026.
The region recorded 70,552 showings, down 5.2% from the same week in 2025. It was the first overall year-over-year decrease in seven weeks. Only the Maryland-West Virginia Panhandle and Maryland Eastern Shore markets posted increases.
Contract activity was more resilient. Buyers signed 5,303 new contracts during the week, a 3.2% increase from a year earlier, though results varied considerably among sub-regions.
New listings also remained ahead of last year’s pace. The weekly total reached 6,347, up 4.4% year over year, with most areas contributing to the increase.
The Washington metropolitan area was among the exceptions, recording fewer new listings than a year ago. Southern Maryland and the Maryland Eastern Shore also posted year-over-year declines.
