Reston Pools Go to the Dogs as Summer Winds Down

Reston Association marked the approaching end of summer by opening Autumnwood Pool to four-legged swimmers during its Aug. 16 Dog Paddle.

Reston Association marked the approaching end of summer by opening Autumnwood Pool to four-legged swimmers during its Aug. 16 Dog Paddle.

The event gave dogs a chance to splash in a neighborhood pool that had already closed for the season. People were not permitted in the water.

Among the returning swimmers was Scoopy Doodle, a brown Labradoodle attending his second Reston dog paddle with owner Vince Falbo.

Lee Hou, a Reston Association community assistant, encouraged residents to bring their dogs and enjoy the association’s facilities. Both members and nonmembers must register online.

Additional dog paddles were scheduled through Sept. 6 at Autumnwood and other Reston Association pools, offering a local sendoff to summer before Fairfax County students returned to school.
