Sassanova opened its first Virginia store Thursday in McLean, marking a major expansion for the Maryland fashion boutique.
The 2,262-square-foot location at 6224G Old Dominion Drive in Chesterbrook Shopping Center is the company’s largest store yet. It is nearly twice the size of Sassanova’s boutiques in Baltimore, Bethesda and Lutherville.
The additional room allows Sassanova to offer its women’s collections alongside Nova Man, its menswear brand, under one roof for the first time. Nova Man also operates a separate store in Lutherville.
Owner Angela Tandy called the McLean opening “a new chapter” for the business.
“It’s a bigger space, a bigger assortment and a bigger vision,” Tandy said. “But at the core our goal hasn’t changed — we want people to feel welcomed, seen and inspired.”
Located next to Apricot Lane, which opened in November, Sassanova sells clothing, shoes, handbags, hats, jewelry and other accessories. Its women’s labels include L’Agence, Veronica Beard, Alemais and Tanya Taylor. Men’s offerings include Faherty, Mizzen + Main and Peter Millar.
The boutique is still hiring for several jobs, including an assistant store manager and a men’s lead.
Sassanova joins a wave of new businesses at Chesterbrook Shopping Center. Recent additions include Sorn Thai, Framebridge and Small Door Veterinary.
The property is also nearing the end of an $8.5 million renovation that began in 2022. Remaining work includes repaving the asphalt parking lot, adding another pollinator garden and landscaping beds, refreshing the pylon sign, and installing more seating and gathering areas.
Federal Realty, which owns the shopping center, approached Sassanova while seeking new tenants for the renovated property.
“The McLean customer values quality, individuality, and a more personalized shopping experience, which aligns perfectly with Sassanova’s boutique approach,” said Vanessa Mendoza, Federal Realty’s vice president of regional leasing.
